leelah’s parents didn’t delete her blog, tumblr staff deactivated it, which was probably inevitable considering how the story is developing. i think staff is shit but there’s a couple of reasons this was a better route

• no one can take the url and use it with horrible intention
• now no one can hack the account and mess around with her original final words and will, which was my largest fear honestly

sure, the blog could’ve stayed, but it would be targeted for numerous attacks out of pure hate. im just glad they didn’t take it down immediately so we were able to save her art, her interests and what made her happy while she was still here. it could’ve been right after the first media coverage but at least we got that much.
