So I'm a huge fan of Robert Downey Jr. and always have been,so when I saw you mention something about his comment on being against feminism on my dash,I was shocked.I've read through a many articles and from what I can gather is that the question was worded very oddly, and his his answer was worded just as odd.I doubt that what he said was in a complete and serious tone, because I know he's extremely sarcastic most of the time. You mentioned you were there,so if you don't mind, could you explain?

Hi,

so the thing is, the way it was published originally by that guy he made it appear as if the question was just about feminism and that RDJ’s answer directly to that was “this is all made-believe, son”. However, it never happened that way.

I was fortunate enough to have been there, and while the question was partially about feminism, it was also about superheroes in general. This is already a few weeks back now so I don’t remember the wording exactly, but Robert’s answer was a 2-3 minute long speech with short pauses, covering different aspects of the questions. At the very end of that he talked about superhero movies and in that context finished by saying “that’s all make-believe, son”. That sentence was IN NO WAY related to feminism, but to superhero movies.

The guy originally publishing the article headlined “RDJ calls feminism make-believe” deliberately took that part completely out of context to get a big headline. This is also the guy who, before the event, used his only question to ask RDJ about how big his penis was, so I feel that this gives you some idea of how trustworthy and professional a reporter he is (it’s also just a student newspaper, so nothing where people actually get paid for writing. Not that student newspapers can’t produce good articles, but obviously there’s a difference to a professional paper and a paper basically every idiot can write for with no background whatsoever).

So no, RDJ never said that feminism was make believe, this quote has actually nothing to do with feminism at all.

Well, that’s a spectacularly shitty thing to do.

I’ve seen a lot of posts ragging on RDJ for the supposed make-believe feminism comment, hopefully this clears things up.
